High Strain Rate Properties of Various Forms of Ti6Al4V(ELI) Produced by Direct Metal Laser Sintering

For analysis of engineering structural materials to withstand harsh environmental conditions, accurate knowledge properties such as flow stress and failure over conditions high strain rate temperature plays an essential role. Such additively manufactured Ti6Al4V(ELI) are not adequately studied. This paper documents investigation the different forms heat-treated samples produced by direct metal laser sintering (DMLS). The microstructure texture were analysed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped with backscatter diffraction detector for (EBSD) analysis. split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) equipment was used carry out tests at rates 750, 1500 2450 s−1, temperatures 25, 200 500 °C. DMLS alloys tested here found be sensitive temperature. At most temperatures, finer exhibited higher dynamic strength lower strain, while higher, respectively, coarse microstructure. cut surfaces characterised network well-formed adiabatic shear bands (ASBs) cracks propagating along them. thickness these ASBs varied rate, temperature, various alloy forms.
